Approximately 70 percent of the Earth’s surface is covered by oceans, much of which remains unexplored. In Javanese culture, the phrase “segoro tanpa wates” reflects the ocean as an endless source of inspiration. This study aims to reveal aesthetic experiences and reflections derived from examining Qur’anic verses related to oceanic phenomena. The study explores deeper meanings of the sea as depicted in the Qur’an and translates them into contemporary calligraphic paintings. The artworks combine marine visual elements with spiritual values from Qur’anic verses. The creative process involves three stages: idea formulation through literature review, concept development through exploration, and visualization into painting, followed by exhibition. The resulting works depict ocean phenomena symbolically, including Prophet Musa parting the sea, sailing ships, Qur’anic calligraphy, and the meeting of two seas. These works convey spiritual meaning and the visual beauty of ocean exotica in the Qur’an.
