Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the effect of fixed target and moving target training methods on groundstroke accuracy in terms of eye hand coordination in beginner tennis players. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest posttest control group model, involving 60 beginner tennis players aged 17 to 21 years who were divided into two groups, namely fixed target (n equals 30) and moving target (n equals 30). The training program lasted for 12 weeks with a frequency of twice per week and a duration of 90 minutes per session. The research instruments included the Wall Toss Test to measure eye hand coordination and the Hewitt Tennis Achievement Test to assess stroke accuracy. The results of the analysis showed that the fixed target group experienced an increase in accuracy scores from 62.13  more or less  6.42 to 72.00  more or less  5.90 (p equals 0.001), while the moving target group increased from 61.80  more or less  6.35 to 77.23  more or less  5.20 (p equals 0.000). The t-test between groups showed a significant difference (t  equal to  3.27and p  equal to  0.002), and the two-way ANOVA results showed a significant interaction between training method and eye hand coordination (F  equal to  4.62 and p  equal to  0.037). It was concluded that the moving target method was more effective in improving groundstroke accuracy, especially for tennis players with high eye hand coordination.
