Abstract

Abstract: Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in women, with pain being a symptom that affects quality of life. Complementary services, such as Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT), guided imagery, and progressive muscle relaxation, can help manage pain; however, midwifery students' knowledge of these methods is still limited. This study uses a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test post-test to evaluate the increase in knowledge after an educational intervention. The sample consists of 90 students who have studied complementary care. The intervention was conducted through educational sessions over two weeks with three meetings, using lecture, discussion, and practice simulation methods. The content covered the concepts of complementary therapies, their mechanisms of action, and the application techniques of SEFT, guided imagery, and progressive muscle relaxation in managing breast cancer pain. The results showed a significant increase in students' knowledge after the intervention (p less than 0.0001). Before the education, only 22 percent of respondents had adequate knowledge, while after the intervention, this figure increased to 75 percent. The conclusion of this study is that systematic and practice-based education can enhance midwifery students' understanding of the application of complementary services for breast cancer patients.
