Abstract

Abstract

Leptin plays a role in regulating metabolism, energy balance, and body weight. One effort that can be done to reduce leptin levels in obese people is exercise. This study aimed to prove the effect of combination exercise on changes in leptin levels in obese women. A total of 14 obese women aged 20-25 years; BMI ≥ 25 kg/m2; (BFP) ≥ 30% joined the study which was divided into 2 groups, namely the control group (K1; n = 7) and the combination exercise intervention group (K2; n = 7). Exercise is done with moderate intensity (60-70% HRmax) for 45 minutes of aerobic exercise and (60-70% 1RM), 4 sets, 12-15 reps for resistance training, frequency 3x/week, for 8 weeks. Leptin levels were measured pretest and posttest using the ELISA Kit method and analyzed using the Paired Sample T-Test at a significance level of 5%. The results of the Paired Sample T-Test mean leptin levels between the pretest and posttest on K1 were 1528.59 pg/mL (pretest) and 1554.63 pg/mL (posttest); p=0.859, whereas for K2 it was 1520.71 pg/mL (pretest) and 1260.84 pg/mL (posttest); p=0.000. Generally, it can be concluded that combined exercise is effective in significantly reducing leptin levels in obese women.

Abstrak: Leptin berperan mengatur metabolisme keseimbangan energi dan berat badan. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk menurunkan kadar leptin pada penderita obesitas adalah latihan. Tujuan studi ini untuk membuktikan pengaruh latihan kombinasi terhadap perubahan kadar leptin pada perempuan obesitas. Total sebanyak 14 perempuan obesitas berusia 20-25 tahun; IMT ≥ 25 kg/m2; (BFP) ≥ 30% ikut tergabung dalam penelitian yang terbagi menjadi 2 kelompok, yaitu kelompok kontrol (K1; n = 7) dan kelompok intervensi latihan kombinasi (K2; n = 7). Latihan dilakukan dengan intensitas sedang (60-70% HRmax) untuk latihan aerobik selama 45 menit dan (60-70% 1RM), 4 set, 12-15 repetisi untuk latihan resistance, frekuensi 3x/minggu, selama 8 minggu. Kadar leptin diukur pretest dan posttest menggunakan metode ELISA Kit dan dianalisis dengan uji Paired Sample T-Test taraf signifikansi 5%. Hasil uji Paired Sample T-Test rata-rata kadar leptin antara pretest dan posttest pada K1 1528,59 pg/mL (pretest) dan 1554,63 pg/mL (posttest); p=0,859, sedangkan pada K2 1520,71 pg/mL (pretest) dan 1260,84 pg/mL (posttest); p=0,000. Secara garis besar dapat disimpulkan bahwa latihan kombinasi yang dilakukan efektif untuk menurunkan kadar leptin pada perempuan obesitas secara signifikan.
