Memory is the process of storing, processing, remembering and retrieving information with a range of short-term to long-term memory. Everyone has various ways and styles of learning, one of the most common learning styles used by students is studying while listening to music. This study aims to determine the performance of memory in students of the State University of Malang in the activity of reading a text while listening to music from various genres, such as pop music and classical music. This study took 60 participants from the State University of Malang by setting exclusion criteria in the form of participants who were not students from the chemistry or pharmacy departments. This study used a single factor and between-subject design research method with random assignment into three groups. The random assignment process was carried out by directly randomizing participants into level groups, the implementation of the experiment was not carried out classically, participants were divided back into small groups of 4-5 people in each group. The results showed that there was no significant difference in listening to music on memory in students in the music group, both popular and classical, against the research conducted by the group.
