Abstract: The extensive use of computers in Informatics Engineering students causes an increased risk of occupational disease called Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). The International Committee of Occupational Health created a new subspecialty in ergonomics called ergopthalmology which is inferred play a major role in CVS symptoms. The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of individual factors (use of visual aids, length of time working at the computer, duration of using the computer per day, duration of breaks) and ergopthalmology principles towards CVS. This research using cross-sectional method to 39 students of Informatics Engineering, Universitas Negeri Malang. The procedures performed included measuring blood pressure, filling out the CVS-Q questionnaire, and evaluating ergopthalmology principles. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that there was no influence between individual factors including the use of visual aids (p equal to 0.291), the period of using the computer (in years) (p equal to 1.000), the period of using the computer in one day (p equal to 0.102), the period of use computer before taking a break (p equal to 0.730), and duration of breaks (p equal to 0.693) on CVS in Informatics Engineering students. The ergopthalmology variable also did not have a significant impact on CVS in Informatics Engineering students (p equal to 0.731).
