Abstract

Reaction of silver formate (AgCOOH) and N,N’-dietylthiourea (detu) with 1 : 2 stoichiometry in acetonitrile produced a new complex compound which decomposed at 95-97°C. The SEM-EDX analysis showed that the crystals was prismatic given an empirical formula of C16H37AgN6O2S3. Electrical conductivity measurement and qualitative formate ion test indicated that the obtained molecular compound. Based on empirical formula, the DHL test result, and the qualitative formate ion test, possible structures have been deducted. Two possible structures of the compound were [Ag(detu)3(OCOH)] and [Ag(detu)3(O2CH)] with free energy per bond respectively of -116 kJ/mol and -24 kJ/mol. The accepted compound was [Ag(detu)3(OCOH)] with a distorted tetrahedral structure having the lowest free energy. This structure was isostructure with [Ag(detu)3Cl].

Reaksi antara perak format (AgCOOH) dan N,N’-Dietiltiourea (detu) dengan stoikiometri 1 : 2 dalam pelarut asetonitril menghasilkan senyawa kompleks baru yang terdekomposisi pada suhu 95-97°C. Analisis SEM-EDX menunjukkan bahwa Kristal berbentuk prisma dan memiliki rumus empiris C16H37AgN6O2S3. Uji daya hantar listrik dan uji kualitatif format mengindikasikan bahwa kompleks hasil sintesis adalah senyawa molekuler. Berdasarkan rumus empiris, hasil uji DHL, dan uji kualitatif ion format kemungkinan struktur senyawa kompleks dapat ditentukan. Dua kemungkinan struktur senyawa kompleks hasil sintesis adalah [Ag(detu)3(OCOH)] dan [Ag(detu)3(O2CH)] dengan energi bebas per ikatan berturut-turut sebesar -116 kJ/mol dan -24 kJ/mol. Senyawa kompleks yang diterima adalah [Ag(detu)3(OCOH)] dengan struktur tetrahedral terdistorsi yang mempunyai energi bebas paling rendah. Struktur tersebut isostruktur dengan [Ag(detu)3Cl].
